model makeing?

ok first of if you havent been around long 'ancrossian is a race i madeup, so on to the point.

i was board and was flipping through some sites with sweet mecha models so i was thinking...how funky would it be to comeup with some models of ancrossian mecha or spacecraft...but then it hit me...what do i make it out of and what do i need to shape it....most ancrossian mecha and space craft have lots of bulby armour and such(if youve seen them before)
so yeah if you can help me out i would be much appreciated....

and if i succed ill be sure too show you photos....

You mean like 'scratch building' a model...? Hmm.., unless you are thinking of building a 'one-of-a-kind' unique model from scratch..., your best bet would be to do a kit conversion instead..., i.e., use another model as your base kit, & build up from there..., you can use sheet styrene, & modelling putty to make the extra elements you want...,
More info on scratching building can be found here...,

http://www.ninfinger.org/~sven/model.../rmsfaq.1.html

IMO, scratch building a kit takes a lot of time & dedication..., a mate of mine is currently trying to do a kit conversion on one of his MG Gundam models (to his own design)..., & it is a very, very sow going process...,

actually if u can model in 3d and convert it into a CAD format, theres now a printer, well actually its been around for a while, that will make the model into plastic parts that u can glue together...

There are a few places on the net where you can place commisions for custom models. You just have to have a few production sketches of what you want though and they need to be really detailed...but if you are up for the challenge you might want to hunt around. I used to use CG23D Inc but i don't know if they still have a site or buisness for that matter.......

There's a Japanese site that will do custom models..., I was sorely tempted to get a custom model of the movie version of Utena with angel wings..., then I saw the miniumum price they charged...., US$400 for a 1/6 scale model..., my Japanese mate reckoned that the design that I wanted would have cost closer to US$700 (the site was in Japanese)....,
